These are my go-to super-snack. Hemp seeds are a powerhouse of nutrients — they are hormone-balancing, and are loaded with quality plant protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and fibre. Join the commune!
The key is pre-soaking your hemp seeds. You will need to soak them for about 10 hours lest you risk losing a tooth. I promise the hassle of pre-soaking is worth it. Once you have that done, it’s a doddle. I usually just throw in whatever’s around — nuts, seeds, dark chocolate, some coffee if I’m drinking it (odds are I am)... get creative! Below I have posted the base recipe, but you should add in whatever tickles your fancy in the way of nuts, seeds, chocolate etc. For me it varies every time. These can easily be made vegan, too (see modifications below — we hippies embrace all sorts of folks).
● 1 cup of pre-soaked hemp seeds
● 100g (approx) coconut flour
● 1 egg (or flax/ chia egg)
● 20g vanilla whey protein (or plant protein)
● A dash of cinnamon
● A dash of sea salt
● Around 10 drops of stevia/ 30g erythritol
Simply mix everything together, and bake at 170C for approx 8-10 minutes (or until they start to brown).
